Supporting VANSA
Without generous support from our Funders and Sponsors VANSAWESTERNCAPE would not be able to do the work we do. Learn about the wonderful people and organisations that do support us, and how You, and Yours, could help.
>>VANSAWESTERNCAPE> FUNDERS FOR 2009 INCLUDE: (and the reason we say 'include' is because the list is ever growing and we look forward to adding your name to the list.
Our main Funder is the Western Cape's Department of
Economic Development and Tourism. Their funding provides both
a percentage of our operating costs and funding for specific projects.
In the 2009/10 funding cycle these projects are:
THE VANSAWESTERNCAPE HELPDESK: this is our core activity: the help in
terms of information, assistance and advice for artists and the Visual
Arts sector. In time we aim to grow our reputation beyond the local
community and serve as an advisory body for International Arts
organisations and visitors.
THE ARTISTS HANDBOOK: this is an updated and user-friendlier version
of the great book we assisted the Africa Centre on in 2008. AVAILABLE
DECEMBER 2009
MENTORSHIP PROGRAMME: 12 HDI artists are being taken on an intensive
practical and theoretical journey: pushing the boundaries of their
work, as well as creative a theoretical framework in which to place
it.
We have funding from the Western Cape’s
Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport for SPRING SCHOOL, a
series of workshops and classes that will take place in March 2010.
Included will be Professional Practice for Artists, Sound
Installations, Negotiating Permissions for Working in the Public
Sphere, and Curating a Collection for Private Collectors.
The National Arts Council provided
us with very specific sponsorship for our director to attend the
Arterial Network Conference and World Summit on Arts & Culture in
Johannesburg in September 2009. We are really looking forward to
growing the list of ways in which the NAC supports VANSAWESTERNCAPE.
Plascon

WORKSHOPS
We ran a series of workshops for Art and Design Teachers on behalf of
the Western Cape
Department of Education. These workshops have a wide variety of
application and would be excellent team building days in corporate
environment.
THE FOLLOWING PROJECTS ARE REQUIRING FUNDERS AND PARTNERS:
HELPDESK SATELLITE DAY: For many members coming into the city is hard. We need to take our resources to members. We'll team up with existing community based arts orginisations, NADC for example and have a bi-monthly HELPDESK at their space.
ART PLACEMENT: We want more public spaces to exhibit from the banks to offices to shopping malls. Lets get the art of the white cube and into your daily life. This project has seed funding from the Department of Ecconomic Development and Tourism.
BURSARY PROGRAMME: VANSA are setting up a Bursary for HDI Artist to go through a formal art school system.
