Return to the Source: Art History as an Indicator of the Future by Dr Rasheed Araeen
Dr. Rasheed Araeen is one of the most respected and reputable authors and theoreticians in the field of postcolonialism and the visual arts. He has been awarded three honorary doctorates from, respectively, the University of Southampton; the University of East London, and the University of Wolverhampton. He is the founder editor of the prestigious journal Third Text, which deals particularly with cultural debates around the relationship between the so-called first and third worlds. He is well known among African scholars for his keen interest in Africa and African cultural debates. The topic of this conference, the Posts in Africa, is a field of inquiry that particularly resonates with Dr Araeen’s own interests. Enquiries: Lize van Robbroeck at lvr2@sun.ac.za
